Taking on 2020 – One Healthy Step at a Time – Part 1

Hello my friends! Happy New Year! As we begin this new year as well as a new decade I would like to propose to you that you make this your healthiest year yet! Whoโ€™s with me? It doesnโ€™t have to bog you down or be overwhelming there are small changes that can make big differences. So over the next few weeks let’s explore some easy changes to your daily life! Today lets start with getting in some healthy fruits and vegetables! I just made a salad that Iโ€™m constantly craving, yes, thatโ€™s right, I crave salads! Now, sometimes I also crave chocolate or something salty, thatโ€™s okay! Its all about balance! So week 1 lets make a good salad and enjoy how good food can taste good. Here is what Iโ€™m currently loving!

Two servings:

  • 3 leaves loose leaf green lettuce torn into bite sized pieces  (spinach, kale, or your favorite lettuce can also be used)
  • 1 Handful arugula torn
  • 3 Cooked Brussels sprouts quartered 
  • 1/3 C chopped celery
  • 1/3 C chopped cucumber 
  • 2 dates chopped
  • 1/4 c sprouted pumpkin seeds
  • 1/3 c chopped pecans (omit for nut allergies)
  • 1T Hemp Hearts 
  • 1/2 orange chopped or 2 clementines 
  • 1/2 avocado (wrap the other half tightly so no air reaches the fruit and save for tomorrow!)
  • 3T Tessemaeโ€™s Organic Honey Poppyseed dressing (or your favorite homemade dressing)

Mix well and serve!

Mouthwatering, right?! A little tip, I save the second serving for the next day and throw the avocado on top before munching down!
