You have to listen to your bodies on how much weight is sufficient. If you have not lifted a weight a day in your life start light and work up. If you are a pro try doing more weight with less reps. There are several studies out there that show if you go this route there is no reason to do multiple sets. If you feel like you need more muscle work do another set that works the same muscle but isnโt the same exercise.ย This will prevent over fatigued muscles that can cause injury. Now, if you decide to do more weight you really have to listen to your body, 8 reps sounds easy until you are hoisting 15-pound dumbbells over your head! Give yourself a little time to experiment with this and I know you will see results! Now, how often should you lift!
Try to get in weights twice a week. DO NOT lift on consecutive days; always have at least one day in between for your muscles to heal. Let me know how your weight training is going!
